Security is a core concern for states and individuals, but the pursuit of security, maybe especially in the international arena, raises a number of important and difficult questions at the theoretical, normative, conceptual, and empirical level. This course introduces a number of approaches to the study of security, it explores key conceptual questions starting with what we mean by security in the first place, and seeks to identify key issues on the global security agenda.
